1/23 『Spice Curry Day by Chef Matsuda』

SHOTOEN’s spice curry initiative began as part of our commitment to the SDGs, aiming to minimize food waste by using all the leftover ingredients from our dishes.

Chef Matsuda of SHOTOEN, while being a Japanese cuisine specialist, is also skilled in cooking with spices. His regular course menus often feature dishes accented with spices, and we frequently receive feedback noting the freshness of new flavors and the discovery of novel combinations.

Matsuda’s meticulously crafted spice curry is inspired by Sri Lankan curry. In Sri Lanka, an island nation surrounded by the sea, seafood is commonly used in curry, creating a unique depth of flavor from the seafood broth. This use of broth is akin to Japanese cuisine, and Matsuda adapts this concept to create a spice curry unique to SHOTOEN.

On “Spice Curry Day,” you can enjoy a luxurious plate featuring four types of curry served together. Among these are beef curry made from slow-cooked leftover beef used in our fire-grilled dishes, and curries rich with vegetables and spices. The variety changes each time, and after tasting each type, mixing them on your plate can create a complex blend of flavors and spices, offering new discoveries.

This spice curry, which is both healthy for you and environmentally friendly, is a unique offering only available at SHOTOEN. Treat yourself to this special experience once a month.
